A Video Game Voice Acting Workshop with Misty Lee and Chris Hegstrom
Ever wondered what it feels like to perform in a real video game recording session?
On July 2 from from 6-9PM join award-winning voice actor Misty Lee (World of Warcraft, Star Wars Battlefront I & II, The Last of Us) and veteran game audio director Chris Hegstrom (God of War III, Burnout Paradise, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) for an immersive, hands-on workshop at The Studio Portland.
This is not a lecture. Every participant will step behind the microphone, perform video game copy provided in advance, and receive live direction and feedback from professionals who have worked on some of the industry's most recognizable titles.
You'll learn:
• How video game auditions really work • What belongs on a demo reel (and what doesn't) • How to create memorable, bookable characters • When to record at home versus in a professional studio • What equipment you actually need to get started • How agents fit into a game acting career • Common mistakes actors make in sessions • How actors outside Los Angeles and New York are building successful game careers
Participants will receive an MP3 recording of their performance, including coaching and redirects from the session, and will have the opportunity to ask questions about acting, voiceover, technology, marketing, and the current state of the industry.
Whether you're an experienced performer looking to expand into games or someone curious about voice acting for the first time, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from professionals on both sides of the studio glass.
Enrollment is limited to 10 participants to ensure individualized coaching and booth time.
This workshop is offered in person only at The Studio Portland.
