Established in 1986, The Studio Portland is Maine's longest running commercial recording studio. It has boasted a legacy of artists through the years, including Rod Stewart, Ray LaMontagne, Jerry Douglas, Jonathan Edwards, Charlie Musselwhite, Double Trouble, James Cotton, and G.E Smith.

In 2020, Ryan Ordway took over as manager and head producer, leading a steady series of gear upgrades and in Spring of 2023, a major remodel. The Studio Portland is the new home of WCLZ's Studio Z series, hosting and recording intimate live performances for artists including Grammy Winner, Madison Cunningham, Cecilia Castleman, Noah Kahan, Joe P.,  SYML, The Heavy Heavy, Hiss Golden Messenger and Talk.
