The classic red brick school building at 45 Casco Street is a cornerstone of downtown Portland and its vibrant Arts District. With Maine College of Art (MECA) at the top of the hill and the world famous Gateway Mastering just 2 blocks away, the building owned by architect, Dave Hembre, is a veritable creators' hub. In addition to The Studio Portland, 45 Casco hosts a notable fashion designer, film company, yoga and pilates studio, DJ, and Studio C.
Established in 1986, The Studio Portland has boasted a legacy of recording clients over four decades, including Rod Stewart, Ray LaMontagne, Jerry Douglas, Jonathan Edwards, Charlie Musselwhite, Double Trouble, James Cotton, G.E Smith and local favorites, Ghosts of Paul Revere, Rustic Overtones, Spencer Albee and Devon Square, just to name a few. This acoustically designed facility has also been used for high profile voice over work, including for the award-winning TV series, Schitt's Creek.
In September of 2020, The Studio joined forces with Producer, Ryan Ordway, bringing to the team 20 years of recording experience and a legendary analogue API 1608 console (The Foo Fighters, Radio Head, Led Zeppelin, The Killers, Sheryl Crowe, The Black Keys). The API is the ideal centerpiece for the beautiful, stately room, tying together an already impressive gear collection owned by Hembre; Producer, Steve Drown; and Mastering Engineer, Joe Goodwin.
